Our love for rare and beautiful objects isn't limited to those of the horological variety! In addition to our perpetual treasure hunt for great watches, we cast a wider net into the world of vintage objects, a practice that, since our founding, has yielded a trove of finds we happily share during the holiday season each year.
From vintage clocks to pocket knives, lighters to diving instrumentation, old-world ashtrays to desk sculptures — these are the types of mementos that heavily tug on our nostalgic heart strings and further sate our impulse for preservation and storytelling.
Unfortunately we can't keep them all...
This beautiful sculpture pays tribute to the legendary Mercedes Benz W125 — the Grand Prix racing car developed by the firm for the 1937 season. This oversized piece is cast out of pewter, measuring approximately 13 1/2” x 6 1/2“ x 3”, and features no shortage of detail ranging from the cowl venting to the tread on the tires to the scarf of its pilot billowing behind him, expressing a sensation of speed.
These pieces were produced in the UK in the 1990s and early 2000s by The Compulsion Gallery, which has sadly since gone out of business, making their fine automotive sculptures rare and highly sought-after by petrol heads the world over.
There’s no doubt that this sculpture will elevate the decor for any vintage motor racing enthusiast...Or you could just snag this impressive piece for yourself.
